Zego™ Sports Boat

The Zego™ Sports Boat has asymmetric hulls like the large ocean racing catamarans, which give it impressive performance and speed with any motor size. The Zego™ has the perfect blend of excellent maneuverability, incredible stability, and a ride so smooth that you would think you were on a much larger craft.

Rated for 2 persons, 30 hp motor (max.) and a combined total weight of 850 lbs (riders, motor and additional gear), the Zego™ is classified as a small multi hull runabout by the United States Coast Guard and is fully certified by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) to build and safety standards as established by the American Boating and Yachting Council (ABYC).

The range of outboard motors compatible with the Zego™ has recently been expanded by the introduction of a new transom mount allowing both standard shaft (20"), and short shaft (15"), remote control units. Motors rated between 10–30 hp are available from a variety of manufacturers. We have tested the Zego™ with Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Tohatsu power plants and will be glad to share those results with you. The "rule of thumb" is that you will average a maximum of 1 mph for every horsepower you put on the boat. It is best to check with your local motor retailer to determine what is available in your area, but we are happy to assist on questions of motor availability. We run our tests with a single 220 lb rider, and a performance prop is used in all motor applications to get the best possible performance with our planing hull design.

We encourage all new Zego™ owners to consider using 4 stroke motors as they tend to more fuel efficient, more economical to run over the term of ownership and are environmentally friendly.

The Zego's™ hulls are roto-molded polyethylene, 5/16" thick, and have proven to be durable and damage resistant. If necessary, cosmetic repairs are easily accomplished without special materials or tools. The Zego™ Sports Boat is available in over 500 different UV resistant color combinations allowing for personal customization and high visibility on the water.

Seating in the Zego™ Sports Boat center pod is fore and aft—much like a Personal Water Craft (PWC)—and steering is accomplished with a steering wheel and Morse™ cable setup. This makes the Zego™ comfortable to ride and easy to control. The hulls are attached to the center pod on rails that offer two different position settings to aid in trim set up to compensate for outboard motor size. Also incorporated into the center pod are a portable fuel tank, battery box with vented cover, and two separate under seat storage compartments (one of approximately 8 gallons for general storage and a separate covered box for fire extinguisher and signal flares).

The Zego™ Sports Boat has been designed to far exceed all applicable safety standards and has been successfully tested in applications well beyond the published capacities. Although the Zego™ has been classified as a "multi-hull runabout" and "exempt" from mono hull flotation requirements by the US Coast Guard, it has been certified by the NMMA to be compliant with the level flotation requirements of mono hulled boats as specified by the ABYC. In practice the Zego's™ hull design ensures level floatation in the event of a compromise or swamping allowing the motor, battery and fuel supply to be kept above a "flooded" water line and operational even in a worst case scenario.
